RavenSpace

The RavenSpace® Technology Platform underpins the company’s services and solutions. It is both a set of tools and a design philosophy, and its purpose is to gather, collect, and analyze large amounts of data, quickly and accurately, to provide our clients with data and data analysis in real time.

We view data as meaningless without context, and RavenSpace® tools allow us to organize very large data sets coherently and to rapidly perform complex computer calculations, always within specific contexts. Collectively, these enable the acquisition, classification, storage and analysis of information from almost any type of media or data source.

As one example, our systems process thousands of news stories per hour, delivered directly from news providers, storing it, analyzing it, and cross-referencing it, and deliver the results to our customers generally within 0.2 seconds of its arrival. In addition, our customers can request data or analysis from a year ago, five years ago, or twenty years ago, and it is delivered within the same short interval.

The RavenSpace® Technology Platform allows us to identify patterns in otherwise computationally inaccessible datasets. We run the Technologies cross-platform, on Unix, Linux, Windows, and OS/X, and they are optimized to provide applications to be deployed through the Internet.

The RavenSpace® Technology Platform consists of five components:

   • Collection
   • Storage
   • Processing
   • Data Management
   • Data Delivery

The name RavenSpace® is derived from the basic method of handling computation: Data are treated as existing in an environment (a space, in mathematical terms), and computation consists of moving the data along a path through the space. This approach has allowed RavenPack to develop and leverage continuous and complex models and datasets in finance, policy analysis, and risk management, as well as to provide custom solutions for special purposes.
